(N.Z. Press Association) HASTINGS, Feb. 27. While the manageress of a shop in Heretaunga street, Hastings, was watching television an intruder walked into the shop and rifled the till of about £4B. The shop was open for business and a photo-electric cell warning system was working. The manageress, Mrs Kathleen Campagnola, said she heard a noise and went outside. She saw a boy riding away on a bicycle. Several boys who went into her shop knew that the beam could be avoided by walking under it, she said.
