LAST CHESS EXHIBITION

Master From Philippines Mr R. C. Tan Cardoso, the international chess master from the Philippines who was second in the Canterbury Chess Club’s centennial tournament, will give a simultaneous chess exhibition in the Canterbury Chess Club’s rooms on Wednesday evening. It will be Mr Cardoso’s last exhibition in Christchurch. The secretary of the Canterbury Chess Club (Mr A. Wilkinson) said that Mr Cardoso had been writing the tournament book for the chib. This sets out all the major games played at the tournament. Mr Cardoso has also been giving classes for schoolchildren on Friday evenings, and these have drawn more than 50 children each night. Mr Wilkinson said the club hoped to hold regular classes.
