Strongman Inquiry

(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, Feb. 27.

The Commission of Inquiry into the Strongman Mine disaster on January 29 will hold its first meeting in Wellington on Friday. The meeting will be held in private, however, and will mainly Involve the planning of formal hearings the fiveman commission will hold later in Greymouth. It is not yet known whether the commission will visit the mine but the permanent seal-ing-off of the Greens dip section where 19 miners died in a gas explosion has substantially reduced the value of such a visit. The commission is led by Mr J. K. Patterson, S.M., of Lower Hutt.
