Golden Defoe And Honestly In Form
"The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND.
Golden Defoe and Honestly have good form and such a liking for the course that they seem certain to run well in the Herries Memorial Handicap at Te Aroha tomorrow. If Golden Defoe wins it will be a welldeserved success. He had no luck at Te Rapa last Saturday but finished third. Honestly, a five-year-old mare, has won three of four attempts at Te Aroha. She has the added recommendation of being a Trentham winner over a mile and a half last month. Her training at Takajiini this week has been accomplished pleasingly. Golden Defoe, at Te Rapa, has also worked very satisfactorily. Carlsberg, a visitor from Otaki, would only need to run well in the second leg of the T.A.B. double, the Hot Springs Handicap, to gain a big early following for the Auckland autumn meeting. His hardest opponents this time seem likely to be Count Two and Merry Men. The track should be fast. Selections: 11 a.m.—Arawa Malden: First Division—Shahrez, Nice Guy.
