ELECTIONS IN SAMOA
Record Number Of Candidates APIA, January 24. A record 130 candidates are contesting the 47 seats in the Western Samoan Parliament in the General Election on February 25. Fourteen members, including the Minister of Justice, Tuatagaloa Simaile, and the Minister of Lands, Toomata Tua, have been returned unopposed. The highest number of candidates in any one Samoan electorate is 14. No women candidates are standing.
