HOTEL CLOSURE ‘UNFORTUNATE’
The closure of Warner’s Hotel was unfortunate from the point of view of travel agents in Christchurch and the development of New Zealand’s tourist industry, according to the president of the Travel Agents’ Association of New Zealand (Mr K. O. M. St John), of Christchurch.
“With the obvious sharp increase in the demand for beds over the next few years, the closure of Warner’s means that Christchurch will be less able to meet this demand,” he said. “This sort of thing is happening to older hotels in other countries too.”
