ABBEY RAID BY POLICE

Police yesterday raided a cultural centre belonging to the Benedictine abbey of Montserrat, arrested four of the lay staff, and confiscated thousands of alleged subversive pamphlets.
No official indication of the contents of the pamphlets was given, but they were believed to contain attacks on General Franco’s regime and on Spain’s official labour syndicates.,
