Bus Drivers To Meet

Shift-work meetings of the Christchurch branch of the New Zealand Tramway Workers' Union this morning and this evening would discuss the difficulty of keeping bus drivers on the job. said the union’s secretary (Mr L C. J. Southon) yesterday. The men, he said, were concerned at the drift to other industries.

About 60 drivers were likely to attend each meeting.

The meetings would also discuss the failure of the Christchurch Transport Board to pay the Government rate of pay to their drivers, he said.
