(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P A i

SYDNEY, Jan. 24.

The cost of shipping a fully Australian-built car to New Zealand would rise 19 per cent when new freight rates were introduced next month, a spokesman for the British Motor Corporation in Sydney claimed today.

The spokesman said the rises would add about £NZI4 to the retail price of a fullyimported standard Morris mini-car in New Zealand. “Having worked out our own figures we just do not understand how the Union Steam Ship Company can claim the increases will range between 21 and 7) per cent," the spokesman said. He said the B.M.C. would “protest vigorously” about freight increases, due to start on February 13. The spokesman said B.M.C. calculations indicated that the c.i.f. freight charge on a built-up standard Mini model would rise from the present 65 dollars to 80 dollars—an increase of 19 per cent
