RIDER OUT FIVE DAYS
Interference At Trentham
(N.Z. Prese Aeeociation) WELLINGTON. H. N. Rauhihi, the rider of Marine in the Mungaroa High weight at Trentham yesterday, was suspended to January 28 for crossing and causing interference to Balyn about tour furlongs from the finish. Court Belie (R. J. Skelton) appeared to be travelling kindly near the half-mile tn the Summer Handicap, but when the pace increased soon after, Court Belle was unable to hold her position.
Again In the straight Court Belle could not keep up and when Skelton took her further out she began to lug in. Only over the concluding stages was Skelton able to use the whip. Otherwise was held up in the straight in the January Handicap because there was insufficient room. The judicial committee found that there was no interference. Royal Chase <W D. Skelton) had to be checked about half a furlong after the start of the Metropolitan Handicap when he pulled himself on to the heels of other runners. For the first furlong and a half Royal Chase was blocked but Skelton said that the field was packed and that there had been no Interference. Captain's Command raced disappointingly and finished near the rear in the same race. His rider, J. R. Dowling, said the horse had a good run but did not respond when asked for a finishing effort. He said the horse had had similar lapses. A veterinary surgeon failed to find anything wrong with Captain’s Command.
