N.Z. Dancers In Fiddler On Roof

(London Correspondent of “Th« Press") LONDON, January 12. Two New Zealand dancers will have small parts in the successful Broadway musical “Fiddler On The Roof”, which will open in London on February 16.

They are Miss Terry Callahan and Mr Barry Irwin, both of Auckland. Miss Callahan eame to England in 1959, and has been a principal dancer in reviews and musicals, and a cabaret star. She has danced Columbine in pantomime, partnered by the famous Anton Detin as Harlequin, appeared in “Instant Marriage" at Piccadilly Theatre for a year and more recently in a musical, “Dearest Dracula," in Dublin.

In “Fiddler On The Roof’ she will play parts of Sima, a village girl, and Grandma Tzeitel, who appears in a dream ballet sequence. Mr Irwin will appear as Yussill, a hut maker in the village.

Mr Irwin came to England 15 years ago with a scholarship to Sadlers Wells Ballet As a ballet dancer his experience includes dancing at Covent Garden. He broke from classical ballet to appear in the musical “The King and I.” in West End. Since then he has concentrated on show business and his engagements have included a dance act at the London Palladium and a part in the London production of

“West Side Story,” choreographed by Jerome Robbins, who is also directing “Fiddler On The Roof.”
