Trainer’s Chance For Best Total

•*Th< Press’* Special Servlet AUCKLAND. The Matamata trainer, J. A. Gibbs, could equal his best training tally for a season at Thames today. Gibbs has already trained 12 winners this season—two less than his best season, 1965-66. He has three runners engaged today, and two. Hi Value and Hot Line, look bright winning chances. Hi Value is a candidate for the first leg of the T.A.B. double, the Goldfiields Cup. Hot Line is in the first leg of the on-course double, the Kopu High-weight. Hi Value, after a useful fifth in the George Adams Handicap, a mile, at Ellerslie earlier this week, has come into favour for the Goldfields Cup. He has yet to try a middle distance in open company, but on breeding he should get a longer distance successfully. Hot Line looked most unlucky not to have won the Coromandel High-weight on the first day of the Thames meeting. Rounding the home turn he was with the leaders but on straightening up he appeared cramped for room. Dashing Lu, a Te Ar oh a filly, Bottle Top and Merry Men are likely to be prominent in the second leg of the T.A.B. double, the Flying Handicap. Dashing Lu won decisively on the first day and has a great chance for a good double. The weather has been fine and the track should offer good footing. Selections: —
