Final Election Results
The Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk) has increased his election night majority of 1974 to 2121 on the final official figures announced yesterday. Three years ago his majority was 2677.
The final figures for Lyttelton, with the election-night voting in parenthesis, are:— N. E. Kirk (L.) 9045 (8201), G. P. A. de Latour (N.) 6924 (6227), C. Munning (S.C.) 1424 (1343).
In Hobson, Mr V. F. Cracknell (Social Credit) increased his election-night majority of 426 over the sitting member, Mr L. F. Sloane (National) to 490.
Mr Cracknell gained 559 of the special votes and Mr Sloane 495.
