BUILDING TRAWLER

Rapid Progress At Lyttelton A young Lyttelton shipwright, Mr J. Tissiman, has made rapid progress with the construction of a large wooden-hulled trawler at a site on Norwich quay. Since he started work several months ago, Mr Tissiman has been assisted by his father and uncle, and, provided the work is not interrupted. he expects to have the craft ready some time next year.

When completed, the trawler will weigh more than 35 tons. She is 51ft long with a beam of 14ft 3in. She is being planked with Australian hardwood underwater, and Oregon topsides. Designed for a cruising speed of eight knots, she will be powered by a 180 h.p. Kelvin diesel engine, and have a fuel capacity of 1100 gallons. Accommodation is being provided for four persons. She will have a fresh water capacity of 100 gallons. Mr Tissiman said yesterday that the trawler would fish out of Lyttelton when completed.
