PACIFIC BASIN
N.Z. Role At Talks New Zealand should be represented at the first meeting of the proposed Pacific Basin Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, said the former president of the Manufacturers’ Federation (Mr J. R. Maddren), speaking at the monthly meeting of the council of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association. Mr Maddren said that New Zealand should also take a very active part from the formative days of this committtee. There might be some aspects that did not agree with their policy. The president (Mr C. W. Mace) said it was essential that the federation send more than one representative to the meeting. At the meeting in Australia, there were 30 representatives from Japan and about 12 from Australia.
