GRANT TO SCHOOL
About £BOO For Avonside A general purpose grant of about £BOO has been allocated to the Avonside Girls’ High School by the Education Department. The school’s board of governors was told this at its monthly meeting. The money, payable from February 1 this year, will be spent on administration and maintenance. The secretary (Mr P. J. Halligan) was empowered by the board to negotiate the purchase of a new heavy-duty trailer for the school’s groundsman. The meeting was told that the trailer at present being used was in bad repair. The board received with regret the resignation of Mrs R. E. Holmes from the teaching staff.
A list of payments totalling £558 12s Bd, was approved.
