Election Issues
Sir, —I cannot agree that Mr Sadler has a sound financial blueprint for long-term economic plans. What is his obscure party’s platform? Who is to pay their shilling and for what specific purposes? Does this control purchasing power, and what of debt finance? How statesmanlike can any man be who thinks that ideas can be destroyed with bullets or napalm bombs? Statesmanship? We live in a complacent society, a bit like Shaw’s “applecart:” Please do not upset it with controversy, original thinking, questions, or, horror of horror—changes! As for racial representation, there are only four and they are as effective on their stage as 160, 5000 miles away, are on theirs.—Yours, etc., DOREMUS JESSUP. [ October 20, 1966.
