£5000 Given To School From Fair

A cheque for £5OOO was handed to the headmaster of Christchurch Boys’ High School (Mr C. F. S. Caldwell) last evening by the president of the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (Mr F. Piper). The proceeds of a fair held at the school recently, the money will be used for teaching aids.

Mr Piper thanked more than 200 parents who attended a concert to mark the handing-over of the cheque for the support they had given. “Our target was £3000.” Mr Piper said. “We have we'l and truly eclipsed that, thanks to your generosity and enthusiasm " Mr P’ner said that it was ♦he wish nf his association that no conditions be imposed on the spending of the money.

He was confident that Mr Caldwell would appropriate the money well. Expressing his thanks for the generosity of all who had assisted with the fair, Mr Caldwell said that as well as raising the money, the fair had brough the ParentTeacher Association closer to the school.

“At this stage I cannot tell vou what all the money will be spent on,” Mr Caldwell said. “We have had a meeting of the heads of departments and the allocation of the monfey will be done in a large-scale sharing process. “I have had one request from a staff member for therapy equipment for the gymnasium. This will enable boys with physical disabilities to get some help from using the gymnasium. This is the sort of thing your generosity has made possible.”
