WORKERS LEAVE
Other Jobs Found The managing director of Miller’s, Ltd. (Mr R. B. Miller) yesterday said that as far as the knew all of the 35 disI missals from his woollen mill at Aranui had been able to obtain positions. The dismissals had been caused by the lifting of import restrictions on lightweight cloth. He was very sorry to see those dismissed leave his employment yesterday. Mr Miller said that one or two other mills had offered positions, through his company, to dismissed workers. Some of the dismissed workers had left the woollen industry and gone into different industries. The majority of the 35 dismissed workers left yesterday. They all indicated that they had employment to go to. Mr Miller said that because of the lifting of import restrictions, his company would close down its woollen department and would specialise in worsteds.
As his firm obtained more plant, which would take about nine months, he would take on more staff for the worsted production.
