PROTEST PLANS
(N Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) CANBERRA, Oct. 20. Members of the Vietnam Action Committe—mostly students from the Australian National University in Canberra are planning an hour-long protest outside President Johnson's hotel that may include a “sitdown” in front of the hotel entrance. A pro-Johnson student group has promised to be there to protest against the Vietnam protest. In Canberra, as in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, the State capitals which Johnson will visit briefly during his Australian visit, hundreds of men will guard the President in the nation’s biggest security operation. Apart from Vietnam demonstrations planned in each city, at least four threats have been made on the President’s life in anonymous telephone calls to newspapers.
