Chi-Chi Leaves
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MOSCOW, Oct. 18. The giant Panda Chi-Chi drowned her sorrow in chocolate bars yesterday as she left Moscow, scene of her unhappy romance with a boy giant panda An-An. Chi-Chi munched on the chocolate as she was loaded into a plane at the airport for the flight to London. Her departure ended a long effort that began when she arrived early this year for an attempt at mating with Moscow zoo’s An-An.
Zoologists hoped that she would produce the world’s first baby giant panda born in captivity outside China, the animals’ native land.
