RHODESIA TERMS
Finality Not Reached
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON, October 19. Mr Wilson announced to the House of Commons today that the terms which Britain had presented to Rhodesia were “not final.”
Mr Wilson said: “The principles are final in the sense that they have been laid down for some time.”
Provided these principles were accepted by the Rhodesian regime there was room for discussion as to their implementation, he said.
Mr Wilson said Rhodesia had been given “quite enough time” to accept the principles which successive Governments had laid down. “It is quite clear that we might be facing, even this week, very strong action and resolutions from the United Nations going far beyond what any of us want to see,” the Prime Minister told the House.
