New Medal Wanted
A special Battle of Britain medal should be struck, Mr T. J. Kirk-Burnnand said at a meeting of the executive committee of the Christchurch Returned Services’ Association last evening. There had been a special medal struck for the Gallipoli campaign, “belatedly but rightly so,” he said, and it was time that the Battle of Britain pilots were recognised. When told by the president (Mr D. Barrett) that there was a Battle of Britain clasp to be worn on the 1939-45 Star, Mr KirkBurnnand said that a clasp was not enough; the association should press for a medal. His suggestion was referred to a committee.
