Laramie Best At Awapuni
"The Press” Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. Laramie worked so well in his final trial at Awapuni yesterday that he could well make amends for his first-day failure when he contests the Nikitini Memorial at Otaki tomorrow. Laramie was impressive over seven furlongs on the plough, when he shaded his stablemate, Roman Consul. Janeen, a candidate for the Rahui Hack Handicap, worked well and so did Tainoch, which is in the same race. On the plough. Laramie was running well just ahead of Roman Consul at the end of seven furlongs in Imin 32sec, the last three in 39sec. The prospect of better going this week will improve Laramie’s chance. Goldtone completed five furlongs in Imin 5 2-ssec, the last three in 40 2-ssec. He is ready for a bold effort in the main event at Stratford. On the inside trial Both Ways and Golden Prince covered five furlongs in Imin 2sec, the last three in 36 3-ssec. Golden Prince, which will resume in the sprint at Otaki, did not work quite as well as he did earlier in the week. NORTH CANTERBURY RACING CLUB, INC.
