Off-Course Betting
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. investments with the Totaljsator Agency Board on the Hawke’s Bay meeting yesterday amounted to £178,347 15s. Win and place bets were £82,981 10s and £95,456 5s was invested on the double. The off-course substitute was Dunraven. Interference Alleged An inquiry was held after the T. H. Lowry Memorial Handicap, at Hastings yesterday, into alleged interference by the winner, Shut, to the third placegetter, Lei, just over a furlong from the finish. After hearing evidence and viewing a film of the race, the committee found that although Shut moved in, Lei was not hampered sufficiently to warrant any action. The placings were allowed to stand.
