Vegetable Prices
Locally-grown vegetables were in plentiful supply in city produce markets yesterday. They were also in demand and good prices were realised. Quantities of North Island oranges and new potatoes were also available. A range of prices is: Marrows, to 15s a sack. Silver Beet, 5s to 9s a case. Beetroot, 5s a half case. Pumpkins, 20s to 110 s a sack. Cabbages, Savoy: 18s to 20s a sack. Spring: 10s to 16s a case. Carrots, 10s to 14s a case. Carrots, 10s to 14s a case. Cauliflowers, 8s to 16s a case. Onions, 20s to 30s a bag. Parsnips, 8s to 14s a case. Sprouts, 28s to 36s a case. Swedes, 12s a sugar bag. Potatoes, 7s to 10s a sugar bag. Kumeras, 75s a case. Spring Onions, 5s to 7s a dozen. Radishes, 5s to 7s a dozen. Parsley, 6d to Is a bunch. Lettuces, Outdoor: to 17s a dozen. Glasshouse: to 45s a dozen. Leeks, 8s to 15s a case. Celery, Utah: 30s a dozen. Spinach, 7s to 18s a case. Cucumbers, 18s to 25s a carton. New Potatoes, 8d a pound. Rhubarb, 6s 6d to 7s 6d a half dozen. Tomatoes, 2s Id to to M a pound. Grapefruit, 22s 6d to 28« a case. Passion fruit, 30s a quarter case. Chinese Gooseberries, 15s a tray.
