CANTERBURY TEAM
Because of the doubts about his availability. S. J. Stephen (Avon) has been named only provisionally in the Canterbury cycling team to compete it the national championships. Two of the province’s top riders, R. D. Mann (Papanui) and D. Jones (Avon), were not available for the team announced on Saturday by the selectors (Messrs B E. Dawe, L. Frew and R. J. F. Hooker). The team is:— Senior: T. J. Tabak (Avon, captain). J. S. Danielson, R. J. Hogan (Papanui). Junior: B. G. Stockwell (captain), I. D. McLean, B. P. Whitfield (Papanui). D. B. Hewson (Timaru), R. J. Young (Westport), S. J. Stephen (Avon). Boys: P. Brydon (Rangiora, captain), A. A. Paviell. J. W. Beresford. B. R. Chisholm (Mairehau). The maximum nomination for the boys was four riders, and 10 for the other two grades.
