Record For 2000 Metres
(N.Z P A.-Reuter—Copyright) HAGEN (West Germany). H. Norpoth, of West Germany, broke the world 2000 metres record on Friday when he clocked 4min 57.8 sec at an athletics meeting in Hagen. His time was well inside the previous record of smin Isec, set up by J. Odlozil, of Czechoslovakia. last year. K. Keino, of Kenya, failed in his bid to break the world one mile record at the Welsh Games in Cardiff on Friday. Keino won the event in 3min 57.6sec—6.3sec outside the record held by the young American, J. Ryun.
