Kart Title Prospects
Although the entry is the smallest for any title event for several years, close competition is expected at the 1966 South Island karting championships to be held by the Christchurch Kart Club at Halswell at the week-end. The 100 c.c. super-class racing will be held today. Strong contenders for the class title are R. Wilkinson (Christchurch). the 1965 title holder; I. Millar (Christchurch), C. Mitchell (Christchurch), J. Keating (Christchurch). S. Christenson (Christchurch). D. Abernethy (Wellington). L. Howman (Christchurch). G. Bassett (Christchurch), and the only woman driver in the competition, Miss C. Brady, of Timaru. Two Nelson drivers. P. Rudolph and R. Greig, are also expected to provide strong competition. The 100 c.c. A class will also be held today. B. Mills (Christchurch), the present title-holder, will compete again.
Sunday’s races will include the 200 c.c. super class and the 200 c.c. standard class. The open class will be the final series on Sunday.
