Mr Eyre, the retiring Minister of Defence, will visit defence establishments in Christchurch next week. He will be accompanied by Mrs Eyre. The Minister will attend a farewell dinner at the officers’ mess at the Royal New Zealand Air Force base at Wigram on Thursday evening. The next day he will make an informal visit to Burnham Military Camp. In the evening Mr and Mrs Eyre will attend the annual ball of the Canterbury division of the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve at H.M.N.Z.S. Pegasus. Archbishop P. T. McKeefry, Roman Catholic Metropolitan of New Zealand, is expected to leave Calvary Hospital, Wellington, soon. He has been in hospital for 14 weeks, since he fell at his home and broke an arm at the elbow. —(P.A.)
