Christchurch B.H.S. Win Schools’ Golf Title

Christchurch Boys’ High School won the Canterbury secondary schools’ golf championship yesterday when it beat Timaru Boys’ High School, 4-2, in the final game. Some of the thunder of the final day's play was stolen by a player in the St. Andrew’s College B team, G. Cartwright. On the 120-yard. par-three sixteenth hole Cartwright, who plays on a handicap of 15, holed his seven-iron tee shot. Even this was not sufficient to save him from defeat at the hands of T. Cusack (Mairehau High School). Elsewhere on the course, the A grade final was being fought between Christchurch and Ti maru. These teams were equal with three points after the first three rounds. Timaru’s defeat of St. Andrew’s College A in the morning round having removed St. Andrew’s from the reckoning. Christchurch came through its third round match against Shirley Boys’ High School with the loss of only one game. Christchurch’s number one player, R. W.
