TRACK WALK SCHEME
The newly-formed Canterbury Amateur Walkers’ Association will try to have, trick events for walkers introduced to the track and field programme when the annual meeting of the Canterbury Athletic Centre is held later this month. It has given notice of its intention to move that: ‘‘consid eration be given to the reintroduction of track events for walkers, especially for the under-17 grade.'' Two clubs are seeking ■to have the colour of Canterbury’s distinctive red blazer changed. The Christchurch High School Old Boys’ Club and the Olympic Club both want the blazer to be blackAn attempt to alter the colour of the blazer at the last annual meeting on the ground that it was too bright for normal use failed to find support.
