ATLANTIC FREIGHT
Higher Rafes Announced (Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.Af LONDON, August 17. Increased freight rates between British and Irish ports and Canada and the United States, to be in force from January 1, 1967, have been announced in London. The Canadian North Atlantic Westbound Freight Conference will apply an increase of 10 per cent to current rates to St. Lawrence and maritime ports with proportionate increases in the rate to Great Lakes ports from the opening of the 1967 St. Lawrence season. Smaller increases will be levied on cargo offered unitised or palletised. The North Atlantic Westbound Freight Association will apply an increase of 8 per cent on current contract rates to North and South Atlantic ports of the United States with a proportionate increase in non-contract rates.
