AUSTRALIAN TOURISTS
Increase After Publicity
Increased publicity on New Zealand in Australia was paying off, said the Christchurch manager of Newman Brothers Ltd. (Mr A. M. Garnett) His firm expected a 50 per cent increase in the Inumber of Australians making bus tours in New Zealand in the coming season. | Already the firm was receiving many advance bookings for tours run from November to May. Particularly popular with Australians was the combined North and South Island tour, which lasted about 15 days and covered major points of interest in both islands. About 10 such tours would be run between December and April. Separate North Island and South Island tours were also popular with both Australians and New Zealanders, and about 170 such tours would be run during the season: 100 in the South Island and about 70 in the North Island.
