Loss On Coal
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 11. State coal mines showed a loss of £946,915 in 1965 and the trading deficit was £344,497 greater than the previous year, the largest since 1962, said the annual report of the Mines Department, tabled in Parliament today. The report said the main factors in the loss were the drop of sales to two of the largest users of coal and the change to oil by sections of industry. Coal sales dropped by 107.624 tons and revenue by £189,081.
