Clay, The Bogy Man

(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter— i Copyright) LONDON. The world heavy-weight boxing champion, Cassius Clay, yesterday threatened to frighten his British challenger, Brian London, to death. Clay said that he would wear a white sheet and jump out from behind a tree when London is doing his early morning roadwork. Clay, continuing his war of nerves in readiness for his August 6 title defence against London, said: “Can’t you just see the headlines? “Brian London has heart attack. Cause of tragedy unknown. Further investigations proceeding.” On the serious side, Clay marked his sparring session yesterday by administering a bloody nose to 22-year-old British prospect, Billy Gray.
