Protest At Clash
The Greymouth Trotting Club has lodged a protest against the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club and the Egmont Trotting Club being allocated racing dates coinciding with Greymouith’s. The Greymouth dates are October 19 and 22. The Metropolitan club has a meeting set down for the night of October 17. This would give only limited time for owners and drivers to get to Greymouth with their horses, said a Greymouth club official. The Egmont club is applying for a new date, October 19, which is the Greymouth Club’s established date. The Greymouth club decided to object, in view of the fact that last season a day of the Christmas meeting had to be cancelled and the club applied for a further two days in March, but was not granted them against an objection by the Taranaki Jockey Club.
