CONNELL, Registrar. 3397 UNIVERSITY OF QUEENSLAND UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF TOWNSVILLE LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN COMPUTING Applications are Invited for the position of Lecturer/Senlor Lecturer In Computing at the University College of Townsville. The successful applicant will be responsible to the warden of the university college through the computer centre advisory committee of which he will be an ex officio member. His chief responsibilities will be: (1) The administration and conduct of the centre in such a way as to enable all users to make the fullest possible use of the facilities. (2) Lecturing in appropriate courses to students of the university college and to users, including courses in programming languages.

The university college has an IBM 1620 machine with 20 K core storage together with a 1622 card-read punch, a 1623 40 K core storage unit, an 026 card punch and an 870 document writing system on its premises. The system is the only scientific computing installation north of Brisbane and is used by members of the university college for research and teaching purposes and by a number of external organisations. Use of the Installation is growing rapidly. The appointment will be to the academic staff of the college within the salary range of: Lecturer, 5A4300-7x200-5A6200; senior lecturer, 5A6400-6x200-5A7600. In addition, a northern allowance of 3A60 per annum will be payable. The appointee will be entitled to participate, in the university staff superannuation scheme, the univeristy housing scheme and allowed reasonable travelling and removal expenses.
