Fines For Brawlers
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Coppripht) LONDON, June 1. British Rugby League officials have framed a new “get tough” plan to deal with player-brawters. The league's secretary (Mr W. Fallowfield) will put the plan before the next meeting of the Rugby League Council. He suggests that If a referee reports a brawl, endorsed by one or both of the touch judges, the dubs concerned will incur an automatic fine.
If the report blames one team more than the other, a heavier penalty will be imposed on the main offender. The plan came a week after the Rugby league final between St Helens and Halifax in which nearly all the players joined in a second-half brawl.
