£500 Burglary At Radio Shop
Thieves on Saturday night took 18 television sets, tape-recorders, mantel radios, and transistor radios of a total value of £5OO from the premises of Vincent Precision Radio. Ltd.. 827 Colombo street. A rear window was forced open.
Money and cheques valued at £2lO were taken from the grocery premises of J. and G. Pierce, Ltd., 222 Colombo street, during the week-end. A barber’s shop at 205 Bower avenue belonging to Mr Noel Robinson was also entered during the week-end, and hair clippers, cigarettes, tobacco, lighters, and brushes of a total value of £29 2s 6d were taken.
Thieves, after forcing entry, smashed a cigarette-vending machine at the premises of the Southern Cross Engineering Company, 121 Moorhouse avenue, on Friday night and took an unknown quantity of money and cigarettes. The premises of City Motors, Ltd., at the corner of Fitzgerald avenue and Ferry road, were also entered during the week-end and property worth £2B was taken. Money totalling £l3 5s 9d
was taken from the premises of Briscoes, New Zealand. Ltd., at the intersection of Carlisle and Brisbane streets, on Friday night. Anther Friday night haul was £l2 and a camera valued at £32 which thieves took from a home in Fitzgerald avenue after breaking in. Property valued at £l4 16s and £3 in money were taken by thieves who broke into a house on the Main South road
on Saturday. On Friday night thieves took £34 from a house in Halswell road. Thieves broke into the Opawa Pharmacy, 132 c Opawa road, between Friday and Sunday and took £4O 17s 6d and a camera valued at £l5. A house in Mersey street was entered during the early part of the week-end and a £5 note and some liquor were taken
