N.Z. Junior Basketball Coach Selected

The prominent Nelson coach, Mr T. Wright, was chosen for the new position of national junior coach-selector at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Men’s Basketball Astodition, held In Wellington during the week-end. The Canterbury contender, Mr R. S. Thomson, and Mr W. Meehl, were eliminated In ballots. Mr Wright will be expected to concentrate on junior teams so that a New Zealand junior training squad wUI be ready to contest the Australian junior championships In 19(57. He may attend the 1960 Australian Interstate titles and a training course.

Team* from these areas can only compete by qualification through preliminary rounds. Messrs M. A. HenstiaU (Canterbury), E. Doherty (Auckland), N. Broughton (Manawatu) and B. O'Hallaran (Wellington) were appointed as a subcommittee to Investigate the financial structure of the association, with particular reference to the assessment and collection of player regSstration fees.
