COURSE FOR TEACHERS
32 In Second Term Thirty-two in-service training courses for teachers under the Canterbury Education Board would be held in the second term, the District Senior Inspector of Schools (Mr H. W. Findlay) told the board. The subjects will be:— arithmetic, 7 courses; reading, 4; languages (including spelling), 7; science, 2; social studies, 2; arts and crafts, 6; physical education, 2; music, Mr Findlay said there was nothing mandatory about teachers attending, but the demand was extensive. The coordinating committee had the co-operation of headmasters’ associations, the New Zealand Education Institute, inspectors, and the board’s staffing' officer in making arrangements to suit all requirements. Mr W. J. Cartwright said the board appreciated the arrangements made and was even more gratified by the response of teachers.
