OIL SEARCH OFF COAST

(N.Z. Preet Association) WELLINGTON, April 10. A marine oil search has begun in the Hawke’s Pay area for BP-Shell Aquitaine-Todd. The search is in the form of a seismic survey by the American ship Merino, which has been chartered by the oil consortium from Geophysical Service International. Working from Wellington over areas of the Continental shelf from Hawke’s Bay to Gisborne, the Merino will take one month to complete the survey. She will then move to Lyttelton to carry out a seismic survey off the Canterbury coast.
