£2m Car Plant Planned

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 8. Dominion Motors, Ltd., announced today that it planned to build a £2 million manufacturing and assembly plant on an 82-acre site in Lincoln road, Henderson. The company has applied to the Waitemata County Council for a change in zoning of the land, which is now in orchards. If the application is granted, work is not expected to begin on the plant before 1968. The plant should begin manufacturing in five years, and will eventually replace the company’s present plants in Newmarket and Panmure. About 1000 people, 250 of them women, will be employed in the plant.
