Dark Smudge Picked For Tauherenikau

With Switch scratched, Dark Smudge's task is so much the easier in the Queen Elizabeth Handicap, first leg of the Wairarapa T.A.B. double at Tauherenikau today. Kintyre, after an excellent final trial on Thursday, remains nominal favourite for the second leg, the Martinborough Handicap. over Star Of Kildare and Humber. An open handicap winner at the Woodville meeting in February when he beat Baloo. Dark Smudge at his last start was fifth at weight-for-age in the Awapuni Gold Cup. alongside Golden Defoe.
