SEWAGE WORKS SITE DISPUTE

(New Zealand Press Association) HAMILTON, April 6. Although its proposal to site a sewage treatment works near a new dairy factory in the Waipa County has raised a storm of objections, the Hamilton City Council has made no formal application to the Waipa County Council for permission.

The site is in Pukete road in the county, just outside the city boundary. The main objection to the proposed site is the possible effect on New Zealand’s export markets. A county council spokesman says the city council has taken advice and believes it has no need to make application for conditional use of the site.
