FLOODED MINE
Clay Hampers Search (From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, April 5. Gangs of five men working in shifts throughout the day and night are trying to pump the water out of Alborns private mine at Boatmans, near Reefton, where a miner has been missing since soon after 8 a.m. on Monday. The missing man is James Williams Cooper, of Cronadun. Although the workers have made steady progress, their efforts are being greatly hampered by thick clay which has been sw’illed into the mine through the wall from an old closed-down pit. The flow of water, however, has lessened. Alborns mine, which has been worked for the last 64 years, is the oldest private concern in the Reefton district.
