Bellition Enchances Stakes Prospects

•'The Press’ 9 Special Service DUNEDIN. Bellition enhanced her prospects for the Warstep Stakes at Riccarton on t Monday with a most at- | tractive gallop at Wingatui yesterday. Her stable-mate, Irish Gloss,’ a form runner for the Visitors’] Hack Handicap at Riverton, and Royal Estate, which is] engaged in the C.J.C. GeorgeAdams Handicap, were also impressive. The fast work was held on the extreme outside of the course proper and conditions were ideal. Bellition (E. J. Didham) was galloping easily alongside Irish Gloss (C. B. Clydesdale) at the end of five furlongs in Imin 4 4-ssec, the opening furlong in 12 l-ssec. Palisade <R. J. Pledger) and Warfare (M. J. Skelton) were given an easy run over the same ground in Imin 6 3-ssec, the first two furlongs in 26sec. Beat Stable-mate Farmer’s Girl (B. P. Kennedy) was too good for her stable-mates, Disagree (G., Mee), Blue Girl (R. A. Low) i and Primrose Lane (P. Me-; Kay) over half a mile in 53; 4-ssec.

She gave them a start and shaded Disagree, with the others well beaten. Fanner’s Girl is improving with every gallop and will add considerable interest to the Champagne Stakes at Riccarton.

Royal Estate had ideas of his own about galloping, but J. R. Dowling kept him up to his work over nine furlongs. He continued a strong gallop to run two lengths clear of Dunsun (A. K. Robinson), with a similar margin to Under-

wood Lass (A. E. Gye), the last seven furlongs in Imin 33 2-ssec and the last three furlongs in 42 2-ssec. Ataarangi is not starting in the Opawa- High-weight at Riccarton on Monday, but will be reserved for the last two days of the meeting. Over Six Fences

One of the best schools seen at Wingatui for some time was recorded by Fine Chase (B. P. Kennedy), Linred (P. McKay) and Dark Jester (G. Mee) over six steeplechase fences. Linred, a last start winner at Birchwood, is engaged in the Waiau Steeplechase at Riverton. Fine Chase is engaged on the last two days of the Riverton meeting.
