RAN WELL AT GORE
‘'The Press’* Special Service INVERCARGILL. San Rafael, Happy Day. Loch Nagar and Tundra were the most impressive trialists at Gore yesterday. The trestles were 25ft out on the course proper and the track was easy. San Rafael, which could upset calculations in the open sprint at Riverton, sprinted five furlongs in Imin 4 2-ssec, after taking a wide berth at the home turn, and running her final half in 51 4-ssec. It was a good gallop. Loch Nagar, which has won three of her last six starts, was in her element in the ground, finishing on terms with Happy Day over five furlongs in Imin 4 3-ssec. the last half in 52 l-ssec. Happy Day will go north later in the week for the Warstep Stakes at Riccarton. Tundra, which has come into favour for the Riverton Cup, worked over a mile and a quarter with Cassarook, the last five in Imin 7sec and finishing up from the half in 53 3-ssec. Tundra will be ridden by J. R. Dowling in the Riverton Cup.
