BAND TITLE DEFENCE
M.P.s Advised Of Efforts (N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 5. The secretary of the Brass Bands’ Association (Mr G. R. Mowat) has written to every member of Parliament drawing attention to efforts made by the National Band to defend its world title in Kerkrade, Holland, in July. Mr Mowat said a copy of a letter just received from the International Association of Concert Managers in America had also been sent to the M.P.s. The letter said: “We advise you that the National Band was acclaimed as the finest new concert attraction to be heard in the United States in 1965. We look forward with anticipation to its return In the near future.” Mr Mowat sa l the urgent appeal made by the band last week was beginning to get response. “More replies from business houses are coming in and there have also been replies from the public,” he said. The band must tell officials in Kerkrade by the end of April whether it can tour.
